There are a lot of different philosophies given about it..but I will share the definition that I personally agree with.
The soul is just like a ball of energy travelling in the Spiritual dimension. Twin flames are two souls, created by splitting the same energy ball into two. They are split with polarities, one holds dominant Feminine energy and another holds dominant Masculine energy. They still have their inner feminine and masculine energy in balance.
It’s the fear of letting go for which we try to hold on to the ones we love, so tightly that we don’t realise it doesn’t feel like love anymore.
We often try to change ourselves and control the other person to manipulate situations, because we fear what if everything ends.
But we don’t realise love doesn’t bind, it liberates. It let’s you go.

All twin flames are high vibrational souls who come here with a spiritual mission. All Lightworkers always go through a lot of struggles, to overcome oppression and step into their true power. Twin flames also go through the same, but their journey is more complicated in context of the connection.
Divine Feminine (or Masculine whoever wakes up first), understands the connection completely and shows unconditional love towards their twin from starting. But the other twin comes in unhealed, who’s awakening is still due. Once the second twin also awakens to this connection, union happens. But what happens till union is separation.
